Usick has a starring role in Red, White, and Royal Blue, both the novel by Casey McQuiston and the Prime Video adaptation directed by Matthew Lopez.
Red, White & Royal Blue is a romantic comedy directed by Matthew López. It is based on the novel by Casey McQuiston. It tells the story of Alex, the son of the American president, and Henry, a British prince, who fall in love and face challenges from their families, the media, and their hearts.
The film stars Taylor Zakhar Perez as Alex and Nicholas Galitzine as Henry. It also features Uma Thurman as the president, Stephen Fry as the queen, and other talented actors. The film was released on Prime Video on August 11, 2023, and received positive reviews from critics and audiences.
In some instances, McQuiston wrote musical moments into the story – including the dance shared by Prince Henry and Alex at the Victoria and Albert Museum. Some of these moments were changed for the film, and additional songs were changed as well.
The soundtrack features songs by artists such as Taylor Swift, Lizzo, Harry Styles, Queen, The Beatles, and more.
In chronological order, here’s a guide to the 23 songs played in red, white, and royal blue. (If you want to listen to these songs on Spotify, Prime Video made a playlist just for you.)
Music of Red, White & Royal Blue Soundtrack
Based on Casey McQuiston’s romance novel of the same name, the film follows the rivalry-turned-romance between the son of the President of the United States and the Prince of England.
However, the cinematic adaptation does not exactly match all the tracks mentioned in the novel, as co-writer and director Matthew Lopez was keen to take over the reins of the soundtrack and put together a series of songs suitable for the film adaptation.
While many of the songs mentioned in the book come to the screen, including Queen’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and Lil Jon’s ‘Get Low,’ Lopez removes a few other bops and brings a soundtrack to narrate the love story. Returns. Told in the film.
