Favorite Son Christmas is a 2023 BET+ holiday drama directed by Robin Givens, and a sequel to the 2021 BET+ film Favorite Son. Both films are based on novels by Tiffany L. Warren (Favorite Son Christmas adapts her book of the same name), and both center on the Graceway Church family at the heart of a gospel-music dynasty. The film premiered on BET+ on December 14, 2023 — it has already released, so this is not an “upcoming” title. It stars R&B singer Durrell “Tank” Babbs and gospel singer Darrel Walls of The Walls Group, alongside Lisa Arrindell, Serayah, MC Lyte, Jekalyn Carr, Loren Lott, and Anthony Evans.

Who Composed Favorite Son Christmas
Unlike most films we cover, Favorite Son Christmas does not have a publicly credited film-score composer or a released original soundtrack album at the time of writing. That’s consistent with the movie’s premise: it’s a faith-based drama built around a fictional gospel group, so its music comes from its cast performing live in-story rather than from an underscore. Two of the leads are real recording artists playing musicians on screen:
- Durrell “Tank” Babbs (credited as Tank) is a Grammy-nominated R&B singer-songwriter and producer, known for hits including “Maybe I Deserve,” “Please Don’t Go,” and “When We.” He began his career as a backing vocalist for Aaliyah and Ginuwine before signing to Blackground Records in 1998.
- Darrel Walls is a Grammy-nominated gospel vocalist and the oldest member of the Houston-based sibling quartet The Walls Group, formed in 2009. He has since built a solo gospel career.
We could not verify a specific film music credit or original soundtrack tracklist for this title from IMDb or other soundtrack databases, so rather than guess, we’re disclosing that gap honestly. We’ll update this page if a formal score or soundtrack release is announced.
