Keyboard Legend John Gosling of The Kinks Passes Away at 75 Bandmates Pay Glowing Tributes

The Kinks pay tribute to their former bandmate John Gosling who dies at the age of 75.

In 1960, Ray and Dave Davies respectively formed the Kinks, while Gosling joined the band in 1970 as a keyboard player.

The band said on Instagram: “We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of John Gosling. We are sending our condolences to John’s wife and family.”

Lead singer Ray Davies also delivered a tribute to his friend and former bandmate and told: “Condolences to his wife, Theresa, and family. Rest in peace, dearest John Gosling.”

Ray Davies said: “Condolences to his wife Theresa and family. Rest in Peace, dearest John Gosling. (sic)”

The band’s lead guitarist, Dave Davies, also showed his condolences, saying: “I’m dismayed, deeply upset by John Gosling’s passing.

“He has been a friend and important contributor to the Kinks’ music during his time with us.

“Deepest sympathies to his wife and family.

“I will hold deep affection and love for him in my heart always. Great musician and a great man.”

The Kinks’ drummer, Mick Avory, said: “Today we lost a dear friend and colleague, he was a great musician and had a fantastic sense of humor… which made him a popular member of the band, he leaves us with some happy memories. God bless him …”

Recording sessions for Lola Gosling auditioned for the band, while one track went to No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart.

After Five years of the US tour, the musician joined the band, which led to the American Federation of Musicians banning the Kinks from performing in the US for four years.

Gordon Edwards replaced Gosling on keyboards before Ian Gibbons joined the band in 1979.

Gosling became a founding member of the band Cast of Kinks in 1994, along with former band members Avery, Jim Rodford, and John Dalton.

However, Gosling stayed in the band until his retirement in 2008.

The Kinks achieved chart success in the UK with three No. 1 singles: You Really Got Me, Sunny Afternoon, and Tired of Waiting for You.
