Dave & Central Cee's 'Sprinter' Marks 10 Weeks at Number 1 on UK's Official Singles Chart

Dave & Central Cee: Dave and Central C’s reign at the top continues, with Sprinter becoming the first UK rap track to reach 10 weeks at No. 1.

The pair’s dominance of the official singles chart marks the 50th anniversary of hip-hop’s birth, a truly serendipitous moment for the UK scene as well as a global celebration of the genre.

Becky Hill and Chase & Status rise six spots into the top 10 for the first time today with their collaboration Disconnect on 9. The DNB banger became Becky’s sixth top 10 hit, while Chase & Status earned her her fifth top 10 single, and first in ten years.

Influential DJ duos are also down the chart this week, with fast-rising Floddan and Boo link-up Baddadan rising from number 10 to a new peak of number 21.

While Calvin Harris and Sam Smith’s Desire rose from six to number 12, Ryan Gosling’s I’m Just Kane also reached a new peak of number 13. Nathan Dawe, Joel Corey, and Ella Henderson move to number 10 with 0800 Heaven

Doja Cat‘s Paint the Town Red debuted at number 20, the US multi-hyphenates first solo top 20 single in two years.

Hailing from Manchester and already the holder of one Top 40 single this week, rising star Bow hits another new peak with Closer ft. Seven (26) went up and finally, Travis Scott had another hit in the form of telekinesis with SZA from his recent No. 1 album Utopia. and Future (31) made the official top 40 for the first time.

“Nothing Compares 2 U” stayed at No. 1 for four weeks following its initial release in 1990. The Irish singer and songwriter died away on July 26 at the age of 56.
