Set against the backdrop of the Niger Delta oil conflict, Blood Vessel follows six young people fleeing a town devastated by oil pollution and political unrest who stow away on a ship carrying stolen crude oil across the Atlantic. Trapped in a small hold, they come face to face with a ruthless Russian rogue captain and his crew. Blood Vessel is also notable as the first Netflix film to extensively use the Ijaw language, complete with an Ijaw-language subtitle option.
Note: This 2023 Nigerian Netflix thriller should not be confused with the unrelated 2019 Australian film also titled Blood Vessel, a WWII-era U-boat vampire horror movie with a completely different cast, crew, and plot. Every fact on this page refers specifically to Moses Inwang’s 2023 Nollywood release.
