The Inventor is a 2023 international stop-motion adventure animated biographical film based on the life story of inventor Leonardo da Vinci.
The film is written by Jim Capobianco, directed by Jim Capobianco and Pierre-Luc Granjon, and produced by Curiosity Studios, SIE Films, Aerial Contrivance Workshop, Foliascope, Leo & King, and Melusine Productions. Starring – Stephen Fry (Leonardo da Vinci), Daisy Ridley, Marion Cotillard, Matt Berry, Jim Capobianco, Ben Stranahan, Max Baumgarten, Angelino Sandri, John Gilkey, Daniel Swann and Jane Osborne.
The Inventor Soundtrack (Theme)
The film had its world premiere in official competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival on 12 June 2023. Blue Fox Entertainment will release the film in the United States on September 15, 2023, while KMBO will release the film theatrically in France on January 31, 2024.
The film is based on the life of inventor Leonardo da Vinci, who leaves Italy to join the French court, where he can experiment freely.
On April 12, 2018, Variety reported that Jim Capobianco, the Academy Award-nominated screenwriter of Ratatouille (2007), and producer Robert Ripburger were producing The Inventor, a stop-motion adventure film about the life of Leonardo da Vinci. There is a continuity. Capobianco’s 2009 short film, Leonardo’s. [4] [5] On May 2, 2018, Capobianco said in an interview with Flickering Myth that The Inventor would focus on the end of Leonardo da Vinci’s life when he moved to France.
Production began on 14 February 2022 at Foliascope Studios in Saint-Père, France. On February 19, 2022, composer Alex Mandel wrote on his Twitter account that Marion Cotillard sings one of his songs in The Inventor.
On July 17, 2022, the French newspaper Le Dauphine Libre revealed behind-the-scenes photos from the set. The shooting was completed on 16 December 2022. The first scoring session with composer Alex Mandel and the Budapest Scoring Orchestra took place completely remotely on 16 January 2023. Post-production was completed on 13 May 2023.
