The game is based in the near future, where a mysterious organization called the Syndicate has taken over the island of Oahu in Hawaii and turned it into a playground for illegal street racing and crime.

The player is a former member of the Syndicate, betrayed by his former boss and left for dead. The player joins forces with a group of rebels called the Motorists, who are fighting to liberate the island from the Syndicate’s grip.

The player can choose from four different roles: Racer, Cop, Explorer, or Hacker. Each role has its own skills, perks, and missions. The player can switch between roles at any time and customize their vehicles with different parts and decals.
