Taylor Swift leads the nominations for the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) with eight nominations.
The nominations, announced Tuesday, included a list of female artists, with SZA in the running for six awards and Miley Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Kim Petras, and Nicki Minaj trailing with five each.
While Shakira, Blackpink, and Diddy were recognized in four categories, Sam Smith also received five nominations.
All nominees are female – for the first time since the Artist of the Year category was introduced in 2017, with A total of 35 artists including Ice Spice, GloRilla, Kim Petras, Reneé Rapp, and Boygenius receiving their first-ever VMAs nominations.
