NSB 2K24 Soundtrack: 2K announced on Tuesday that the upcoming release of NBA 2K24 will feature a soundtrack that “celebrates the hip-hop genre, presenting an extensive tracklist composed of prominent artists, lyrical icons, and the next generation of artists.”

The NBA 2K24 Soundtrack aired live, showcasing an array of composers and artists that fans will be able to hear at the upcoming 2K Day. Discovering a new NBA 2K title is always a joy, considering how much comes out each year.

But one of the most important contributors to the overall NBA 2K experience is its new soundtrack. And it looks like NBA 2K24 is gearing up with quite a diverse playlist.

NBA 2K24 release date is only a few days away now. With most of the major reveals happening during August, including MyNBA and MyTEAM, NBA 2K24 is rolling out its final announcements ahead of the game’s launch later this week, and the new soundtrack is a popular milestone among the community. We cover all new artists and some new songs.

A unique but under-appreciated aspect of basketball culture is the accompanying musical influence, particularly its affinity with the hip-hop/rap genre. For the next generation of players this year, fans will be able to get that first-hand experience with the Streetball single-player mode that will be available in city neighborhoods, giving players the opportunity to be immersed in an authentic streetball environment that directly affects does. Mark Campbell, a professor of music and culture at the University of Toronto, recently told Kyle Hightower and Alanis Thames of the Associated Press how the NBA and hip-hop have been intertwined for five decades:

“I think the relationship between basketball and hip-hop, they seem kind of symbiotic. They both allow for individual expression within a team dynamic. What makes them unique is that a lot of times what’s memorable about basketball is not how many wins a team made, but it is about how Dr. J (Julius Erving) went around the rim, or how an individual player created poetry in motion…how they made the body do interesting and dynamic and new things.”

At the time of this writing, NBA 2K24 has not yet revealed all the songs from the artists it will feature on its soundtrack at launch. Per his Twitter post, NBA 2K24 revealed all of the artists fans can expect to find but only highlighted a handful of songs that will actually be on the official playlist.
