Lionel Richie’s Concert Cancellation: Lionel Richie enraged fans by canceling a concert an hour after start time.

The All Night Long singer and Earth Wind & Fire were due to perform at the sold-out Madison Square Garden show on Saturday.

However, by 7.30 pm fans were already present at the venue. The show was canceled at the start – Richie said that his plane was unable to land in New York because of rain.

“Due to severe weather and being unable to land in the NY and surrounding areas, I’m unable to make it to the show tonight,” the “Endless Love” singer tweeted at 8:31 p.m. The show was scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.

Lionel Richie then announced that the show would be moved to Monday, writing: “I’m so bummed. We are rescheduling the show to Monday, Aug 14. Can’t wait to perform for you all. Tickets for tonight’s show are valid for the show on Monday.”

However, fans who came from out-of-town to see the star were still left fuming and upset about not being able to make a new date.

“We went out of the way to get the weekend off and now I can’t go on Monday,” said the nurse, who came in from Long Island with her husband and coworker. “Does he think it’s easy for me to take off Monday night? This is New York. We work.”

Videos from inside the ground showed fans booing, while others shared their unhappiness on social media.

“So disappointed after Lionel Richie canceled show @ MSG last night an hour after it should have started,” one fan wrote on Twitter/X. “Now Ticketmaster can’t refund $$ for 30 days! The expense for hotel, valet, food & drinks were all spent around an event that never was. Lionel Richie & MSG, you need to do better!”

“You can’t sell out Madison Square Garden and [cancel due to] a weather issue. I’m frustrated and I’m concerned — I think it might be something else. I’m worried that it’s something else and that [the weather] was an excuse,” the lady expressed.

a security guard outside MSG said, “As far as I know, it was bad weather. I wouldn’t fly in bad weather either,”

Another fan communicated matching opinions. “You can’t sell out Madison Square Garden and [cancel due to] a weather issue,” the woman said. “I’m frustrated and I’m concerned — I think it might be something else. I’m worried that it’s something else and that [the weather] was an excuse.
