Composer of Lies of P Soundtrack

The score for Lies of P was composed by Yeakun Yoo, a Korean composer who first connected with Neowiz at the G-Star 2022 gaming expo in Korea. Impressed by his portfolio, Neowiz’s audio director brought Yoo on to supplement the studio’s in-house team, starting with a test assignment to score the game’s menu screen. His piano-and-violin menu theme submission was accepted without changes and shipped as the game’s actual menu music – and notably, every subsequent piece of music Yoo submitted for the game was approved on first delivery without revision.

Yoo has described Lies of P as the project he is most proud of and most emotionally attached to in his career. He approached the score by imagining Pinocchio’s longing to become human, weaving that emotion into a set of recurring thematic melodies that recur and vary across the game rather than relying on constant new material – a classical-composition technique he has compared to the thematic variation used by Beethoven and Brahms. Yoo has cited veteran game composer Garry Schyman as a mentor. His work on Lies of P won recognition at the Korean Game Awards, and he later founded his own production company, YK Music Productions.
