Gunna’s Return: Announces First Live Shows Following Prison Release

Gunna will be performing at New York’s Barclays Centre on September 9 for an event called “The Gift.” He will also follow that up with “The Curse,” at the YouTube Theatre in Los Angeles on September 28. Tickets for both events will go on sale on July 21, with Citi cardholders receiving first dibs on July 18.

Pre-sales for the Artist Fan Club and Spotify Fan First will commence on July 19. Gunna will also donate $1 from every ticket sold to the Goodr Foundation, a hunger relief organization.

The live performance will promote Gunna’s new album, A Gift & A Curse, which was released on June 16. According to Luminate data, the album debuted at the top of the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums list and garnered 85,000 EAUs in the United States.

That equates to around 112.6 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs and approximately 1,000 physical album units. It is also Gunna’s fourth #1 album—Drip or Drown 2 in 2019, Wunna in 2020, and DS4Ever in 2022 were all chart-toppers when they were released.

In the week following its release, the single “Fukumean” debuted at the top of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs list, peaking at #8. Gunna’s album beat out Taylor Swift (61K), however, it fell short of Morgan Wallen (110K) and K-pop act ATEEZ (101K).

Since his incarceration in the YSL RICO case, Gunna has been rather quiet on social media. The rapper struck a plea deal for release in December 2022, but Young Thug remains behind bars after being denied bond many times.

“A Gift and a Curse” debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and featured the tune “Fukumean,” which became Gunna’s first top 10 hit on the Hot 100 list. The song is currently at No. 7 on the singles chart, while the set is at No. 9 with 42,000 units sold.

In the 15-track album, Gunna raps about his relationship with Young Thug, snitching claims, addiction, his family, and how he dealt with his time in jail.
