Who composed Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga Soundtrack?
Tom Holkenborg (known professionally as Junkie XL) composed the music for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, returning to the franchise after scoring Mad Max: Fury Road. He is a Dutch composer, multi-instrumentalist, DJ, and producer whose other credits include Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Deadpool, Alita: Battle Angel, Terminator: Dark Fate, Godzilla vs. Kong, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
For Furiosa, Holkenborg leaned heavily on duduks and didgeridoos (used without distortion) and an early-1960s Buchla 200 modular synthesizer as the core sound for villain Dementus and the War Gods, deliberately avoiding the strings and horns he used on Fury Road. He has said the goal was a score “felt, rather than heard,” scored from Furiosa’s perspective.

How did Furiosa perform at the box office?
Despite strong reviews (it drew a standing ovation at Cannes and holds a high critical score), Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga underperformed commercially. It posted the lowest Memorial Day weekend opening in roughly 30 years for a wide release and finished its run with around $174 million worldwide against a reported $168 million budget — a disappointing result for a franchise film with this scale of production, and a steep drop from Fury Road‘s box office. We’re reporting this neutrally: critical acclaim and box office outcome diverged sharply for this title.
The film stars Anya Taylor-Joy, Chris Hemsworth, Charlee Fraser, Tom Burke, Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, Alyla Browne, and others.
