About the Doctor Jekyll
The Hammer Films production is a modern, gender-swapped reimagining of Robert Louis Stevenson’s novella The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Eddie Izzard plays Dr. Nina Jekyll, a housebound former physician turned pharmaceutical CEO who hires ex-convict Rob — whose full name, in a nod to the source material, is revealed to be Robert Louis Stevenson — as a live-in carer, not realizing he’s unwittingly part of a plot by Jekyll’s violent alter-ego, Rachel Hyde, to seize control of her life. It’s the first new feature from the revived Hammer Film Productions in over a decade.
