Girl You Know It’s True is long since released and no longer an “upcoming” film: the Milli Vanilli biopic opened in German cinemas on December 21, 2023, and later reached the U.S. via distributor Vertical on August 9, 2024. Directed and written by Simon Verhoeven, it dramatizes the rise and fall of dancers Rob Pilatus and Fab Morvan, who won a Grammy for songs they didn’t actually sing, in one of pop music’s biggest scandals. The film was well received on release, holding an 85% positive score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes (average 6.4/10), and it won Best Film and Best Newcomers (for leads Tijan Njie and Elan Ben Ali) at the Bavarian Film Awards in January 2024.

Who composed the Girl You Know It’s True score?
Segun Akinola composed the original score for Girl You Know It’s True. He is a British composer for television and film best known for scoring the BBC’s Doctor Who during the Jodie Whittaker era, including the specials “Doctor Who: Eve of the Daleks” and “Revolution of the Daleks,” as well as the drama Stephen (2021) and the miniseries Dear Mr Shakespeare (2017). This is a German/international co-production, and it’s worth noting up front that a British TV composer scoring a German biopic might look unusual at a glance — but it checks out: Akinola’s credit is confirmed by the film’s own Wikipedia entry, by soundtrack database Soundtrack Tracklist, and by the official Apple Music and Spotify listings for the score album, all of which list him as sole composer.
Every Song (by Scene)
The film’s music is an original score, not a collection of pop songs, so the “tracklist” is really a set of named score cues that follow the story beat by beat — a common approach for prestige biopic scores. The 32-track cue list below is confirmed via the official Sony Music release on Apple Music and Spotify.
