Yamamoto was born on December 18, 1973, in Yokohama, Japan, and graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in 1999. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has built a reputation as both a lead composer and one of the film industry’s most in-demand orchestrators.

He has also spent years as an orchestrator and arranger on major studio scores, working alongside composer Patrick Doyle on Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and alongside Rachel Portman on The Duchess and Never Let Me Go.
Yamamoto’s work extends into video games and global events. He co-composed the Myth: The Xenogears Orchestral Album alongside Yasunori Mitsuda, contributed music to Final Fantasy XV: Episode Ignis and Balan Wonderworld, and orchestrated and conducted the opening ceremony of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
