The Lovers Soundtrack: The indie animated short film The Lovers is a queer psychological thriller that features a diverse cast of characters and a rich mythology. It was created by Studio Heartbreak, a group of young animators who are passionate about telling stories that are underrepresented in mainstream media.

The Lovers Soundtrack is a musical based on William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Laura Murphy.
The Lovers has been described as a fresh and magical pop-infused reimagining that reimagines the tale with a modern perspective and questions our enduring search for true love.
The original production was performed at the Sydney Opera House from 23 October to 20 November 2022, presented by Bell Shakespeare. Directed by Shawn Rennie, the original production featured a live four-piece band. This is the first musical performed by Bell Shakespeare.
