Who Composed the Dee & Friends in Oz Soundtrack?
The show’s original music was written by Tarriona “Tank” Ball, the Grammy-nominated New Orleans singer-songwriter and frontwoman of Tank and the Bangas, who also voices the series’ villain, Miss Ruby. A.J. Sealy is credited as composer alongside her. Ball has said that every song began with a personality already attached to it in her head — she wrote the songs first and was later asked to join the cast, which meant balancing writing, voicing a character, and playing her own shows at the same time.
The score spans R&B, hip-hop, funk, gospel, country, and rock, with lyrics built around affirmations about confidence, friendship, and community. The show’s first official soundtrack release, Dee’s Journey, came out globally on streaming platforms on February 9, 2024, led by the single “Proud to Be Loud.” Beyond that release and its title track, no publicly confirmed song-by-song episode tracklist exists, so we’re not going to guess at one here.
