With Travis Scott‘s latest release, Utopia, Scott has secured his first number-one album as it declares the biggest streaming week for a full-length album so far this year.
Last Friday, the Texan rapper released his fourth studio album, featuring international superstars including Beyonce, The Weeknd, Bad Bunny, and SZA.
The 2016’s Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight is at number 19 and 2018’s Astroworld is at number three. He has previously reached the Top 40 with his debut Rodeo in 2015.
It comes after a Texas grand jury declined to arrest the American rapper in connection with a criminal inquiry into a large crowd surge at his Astroworld music festival in Houston in 2021 that killed ten people.
Singer Anne-Marie claimed the highest spot as her third studio album Unhealthy fell to number two. However, Travis Scott has just pipped British singer Anne-Marie to the top spot.
The record matches his chart peak for his 2021 release Therapy and is one ahead of 2018’s Speak Your Mind. Travis Scott is less than 1,500 chart units behind at the end of the week.
While The Weeknd’s The Highlights is at number four and Taylor Swift’s re-released Speak Now (Taylor’s version) is at number 5. Then there is Post Malone who comes in 3rd with his new album Austin.
Dave and Central C have made history as they claim the longest-running UK Rap No. 1 with Sprinter as it tops the chart for a ninth consecutive week elsewhere in the Official Singles Chart.
The release of the film about the Mattel doll Barbiemania has also fueled a series of tracks appearing on its soundtrack.
Thoughts of American singer Billie Eilish What am I made for? While Dua Lipa‘s Dance the Night moved up one place to number three and Aqua’s Barbie Girl – Barbie World remake featuring rappers Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice reached number four.
Charli XCX has also jumped 10 places to number 9 from her Barbie track Speed Drive.
