When and Where will the film be released on Mr. Monk’s Last Case: A Monk
NBCUniversal is the current copyright holder of the Monk IP, and as of December 8, 2023. Streaming has become increasingly popular over the past few years.
The parent company is opting to release Monk’s first and last feature. Now Words has become a big winner for Peacock, with the service getting its system-selling show earlier this year with the release of Rian Johnson’s Poker Face (2023-).
Shalhoub tells EW, “When Andy first pitched the idea, I thought, ‘Wow, that’s not something I would’ve anticipated.”
“But it didn’t take long for it to lock in. I thought, ‘You know what? This is really right because we want it to be different.’ Why do this at all?
Why revisit these characters unless we’re treading on new ground? It’s genuine. The biggest challenge in my mind was, ‘Can we pull this off and do it justice while balancing the comedic elements?”
