Metal: Hellsinger is a rhythm-driven first-person shooter developed by the Swedish studio The Outsiders and published by Funcom. It combines fast FPS combat with a rhythm-game scoring system, built entirely around an original heavy metal soundtrack featuring some of the genre’s best-known vocalists.
The game launched on September 15, 2022 for Windows, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions following on December 8, 2022. It sold more than a million copies within its first few months and was nominated for the British Academy Games Award for Audio Achievement at the 19th British Academy Games Awards in 2023 (the award went to God of War Ragnarök), while separately winning the Golden Joystick Award for Best Audio in 2022.

Who Composed the Metal: Hellsinger Soundtrack?
Every track on Metal: Hellsinger was written and produced by Two Feathers, the studio project of Swedish composers Elvira Björkman and Nicklas Hjertberg. The duo previously scored games including League of Legends cinematics, Vermintide 2, Angry Birds 2, Hammerwatch, and Aragami, and built Metal: Hellsinger’s score around a layered system: additional instruments and vocal lines join each track as the player’s in-game “fury” multiplier climbs, so the music intensifies in sync with combat.
Rather than licensing existing metal songs, Two Feathers wrote original compositions and then brought in guest vocalists from across the metal scene to front individual tracks — a mix of budgetary necessity (per the developers) and the technical need to split each song into separate rhythmic layers for the fury-meter system.

Where to Stream the Soundtrack
The full Metal: Hellsinger soundtrack is available to stream on Spotify and Apple Music, as well as YouTube. In October 2025, Funcom announced it was shutting down The Outsiders, the Swedish studio behind the game, though Metal: Hellsinger itself remains available to play and its soundtrack remains on all major platforms.
