Table for Six 2 reunites most of the first film’s cast: Stephy Tang, Louis Cheung, Ivana Wong, Lin Min Chen, and Peter Chan all return. Dayo Wong, who played eldest brother Steve in the original and was its most prominent star, does not appear in the sequel. Director Sunny Chan has said Wong’s absence was for “personal reasons,” calling it “a significant shortcoming” for the story but choosing to proceed rather than shelve the project; Wong himself has said he was willing to return but was unable to, and has declined to explain why for now.
Set two years after the first film, the story revolves around three wedding banquets for the Chan family as the siblings navigate love and family bonding in the continued absence of their eldest brother, Steve. (From IMDb / Wikipedia)
Who Composed the Table for Six 2 Score?
The film’s score is credited to two returning composers from the first Table for Six, alongside a third contributor:
- Alan Wong Ngai-Lun — a Hong Kong film composer who scored the original Table for Six (2022) and returned for the sequel. (Note: an earlier version of this page mistakenly described the composer as an unrelated American film producer of the same name born in 1985 — that person has no connection to this film. We’ve corrected the record.)
- Janet Yung Wai-Ying — the other credited composer of both Table for Six films, also known for scoring When Sun Meets Moon (2018) and Mama’s Affair (2022).
- Kenny Chung — also credited with music for the film.
Separately, the film’s theme song, “I Love You So Much,” was composed and performed by lead actress Ivana Wong herself, with lyrics by director Sunny Chan — Wong also wrote and sang the theme song for the first film. The soundtrack also reimagines “Table for Six,” an instrumental interlude from the original, into a new piece titled “The Song of Feast,” composed by Day Tai with lyrics by Siu Hak. Licensed songs featured in the film include Leslie Cheung’s “Monica” and Ekin Cheng’s “Together,” plus a cover of “Little Water, Long Flowing” (originally by Aling Choi) performed by Ivana Wong.
