Patrick Mahomes Cheers on Taylor Swift as She Reveals Her Heartfelt Original Song for Toy Story 5

Taylor Swift is officially part of one of the most beloved animated franchises in history — and her soon-to-be brother-in-law’s best friend couldn’t be more excited about it.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, 30, took to his Instagram Stories to cheer on the pop superstar after she announced her brand-new original single, “I Knew It, I Knew You,” written exclusively for Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5.

Swift Makes a Childhood Dream Come True

On Monday, June 1, Swift, 36, shared the exciting news on Instagram through a dreamy carousel of images — flowers, film imagery, and pure nostalgia — alongside a caption that stopped the internet in its tracks.

“I’ve always dreamed of getting to write for these characters who I’ve adored since I was a 5-year-old kid watching the first Toy Story movie,” she wrote.

Swift revealed she was given an exclusive opportunity to watch an early screening of Toy Story 5 — and the song practically wrote itself that same night.

“I fell instantly in love with Toy Story 5 when I was lucky enough to see it in its early stages, and I wrote this song as soon as I got home from the screening. Sometimes you just know, right?”

The single drops June 5 and is available for pre-order exclusively on her website.

Mahomes Is Fully in His Swiftie Era

The Chiefs QB didn’t waste a single second. Shortly after Swift’s post went live, Mahomes reshared her announcement on his Instagram Stories — specifically choosing the image featuring Toy Story‘s iconic trio, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, and Jessie.

And he wasn’t alone — Brittany Mahomes also shared the news on her own Stories, making it a full family celebration.

With three young kids at home — daughters Sterling, 5, and Golden, 1, and son Bronze, 3 — it’s safe to say Toy Story 5 is already a highly anticipated event in the Mahomes household. The family even visited Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios during the NFL offseason in April 2025, with Brittany calling it “the best trip with our besties.”

Fans Already Saw the Clues

True to Swift fashion, the announcement didn’t come completely out of nowhere. Days before the reveal, sharp-eyed fans started connecting the dots after Pixar put up mysterious billboards in major cities — Chicago, Los Angeles, London and more.

Pixar also dropped an Instagram video of Jessie dancing in front of one of the billboards, sending fan theories into overdrive. Turns out, they were right all along.

A Date That’s Pure Taylor Math

Here’s the detail every Swiftie will obsess over — Toy Story 5 hits theaters on Friday, June 19, which also happens to be the anniversary of Swift’s very first single, “Tim McGraw,” released back in 2006.

Coincidence? With Taylor Swift, it almost never is.

Wedding Bells Are Also Coming

On the personal front, Swift and Travis Kelce — Mahomes’ teammate and star tight end for the Chiefs — are widely expected to tie the knot this summer, making this arguably one of the biggest seasons of Swift’s life, both on and off the stage.
