Who Composed Inside Out 2
Andrea Datzman composed the score for Inside Out 2, making her the first woman to score a Pixar feature film. The original 2015 Inside Out was scored by Michael Giacchino, not Randy Newman (Newman is known for scoring Pixar’s Toy Story and Monsters, Inc. films, but he did not work on either Inside Out film). Giacchino produced the Inside Out 2 soundtrack alongside Datzman and served as one of its orchestrators, and several of his original themes are woven throughout the sequel’s score.
Datzman recorded the score at Warner Bros.’ Eastwood Scoring Stage, conducted by Marshall Bowen. She incorporated rock, psychobilly, and punk elements to capture how Riley physically feels while playing hockey, and cited the “Sense of Self” theme as her favorite contribution to the score.
