Dandadan (also stylized DAN DA DAN) is one of the biggest anime hits of the last two years. Season 1 aired October–December 2024, Season 2 aired July–September 2025, and a third season was confirmed for 2027 — making this an ongoing, currently-airing franchise rather than a one-off release. It’s adapted from Yukinobu Tatsu’s manga and produced by Science Saru. Here’s a verified guide to who’s really behind the story and the score, plus the real opening and ending theme songs.

The official synopsis: a ghost-believing high schooler, Momo Ayase, and an alien-believing classmate, Ken “Okarun” Takakura, make a bet over who’s right — and end up proving both of them are, kicking off a wild adventure involving psychic powers, cursed spirits, and aliens.
Who Actually Created Dandadan?
Correction note: An earlier version of this page credited Hiroshi Seko as the manga’s writer. That’s inaccurate. Dandadan is written and illustrated by Yukinobu Tatsu, a former assistant to Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto. Hiroshi Seko’s role is on the anime adaptation only, as the series composition writer and episode scriptwriter — a different job from the manga’s original creator.
Who Composed the Dandadan Score?
The anime’s original score is composed by Kensuke Ushio (also releases electronic work as Agraph). Ushio is one of the most acclaimed composers working in anime today, known for scoring A Silent Voice (2016), Liz and the Blue Bird (2018), Devilman Crybaby (2018), and Chainsaw Man (2022). Critics singled out his Dandadan score specifically — Vulture named the series one of the best anime of 2024 and praised Ushio’s music by name.
